Things to do - In the spring everything is blooming and the air is filled with the aroma of new growth. With summer just around the corner the birds and other wildlife begin to wake up and show their colors.  You can just sit back and enjoy the smorgasbord that Mother Nature is providing us, or take an invigorating walk to see more of our beautiful area.  There are a lot of wonderful things to do this time of year at our resort.  Listed below are some to help you find just what you are looking for.

Picking Mushrooms - Wilderness State Park, French Farm Lake and Bliss are great local areas to begin your adventure in finding the famous Moral mushrooms.    

Golfing - There are great golf courses in the area, each with their own challenges and charm. The Mackinaw Club, Maple Ridge, and Hidden River are just minutes away from our resort.  Golfing season begins by the middle of May and continues through October.

Cycling - Is one of the fastest growing sports in the area. For avid mountain bikers, you will find that there are many varieties of on and off road trails in our area.  For cycle touring there is no shortage of quiet back roads, ideal for a gentle ride through the country side.

Memorial Weekend Pageant in Mackinaw City, MI - Over 400 cast members will re-create events that took place between the French, British and Indian tribes, on June 2, 1763. This historically rich event will take place for the 46th consecutive year. The Fort Michilimackinac Pageant is the longest running, free historical Memorial Day performance in the Nation. Visitors will meet famous Indian re-enactor Chiefs: Minavavans and Matchekewis of the Ojibwa tribe and Wawatam who becomes a blood brother to Alexander Henry and later saves his life.  For more information go to www.fmpcfestival.org

Lilac Festival on Mackinac Island - This festival features days of activities and ends with one of the largest festival parades in Michigan. See over 100 different species of lilacs throughout the splendor of Mackinac Island. A day on Mackinac Island during the Lilac Festival is the perfect spring getaway.

The Mackinaw Kite Festival - This event is scheduled for the 3rd weekend of June at the Conkling Heritage Park on the waterfront in Mackinaw City, where the skies will be filled with brilliant colors, and many sizes and shapes of kites.

Fishing - We have a very large lake for fishing (1,900 acres) with lots of different fish you can catch (Species: walleyes, rock bass, yellow perch, small & large mouth bass, northern pike, rock bass, sunfish).   Bring your pole and kick back and relax, that big pike is out there waiting for you. You can do all this right out in front of our resort.  We have row boats available for your use.

Swimming - Bring your floating devises, beach toys and enjoy playing by the lake or just lazing in the sun, right out in front of our resort.

Shopping - With various places close to our resort you can shop 100's of stores for that perfect take home gift.  Mackinaw City, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Cheboygan and St Ignace are all within minutes of our resort.

Casinos - Try your luck at close by casinos - Kewadin Casino is a Native American casino in St. Ignace, Michigan and is open 24 hours. The 56,168 square foot casino features 1,130 slots and thirty table games. The property has one restaurant.  Victories Casino is nestled along the banks of Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey, Michigan, they offer over 850 slots and video poker machines, a variety of table games, a full service restaurant, a deli and lounge featuring live entertainment by some of the best acts around.

4th of July - fireworks in nearby Mackinaw City----it is usually pretty spectacular.

In the fall the colors are abundant and awesome this time of year. Sit back and relax to the beautiful colors that nature has to offer. 

In the winter you might find it is not just a cold place here it is a winter wonder land full of thrilling things to do. Listed below are just a few things you can do at our resort during the fall and winter seasons.

Big Mac Shoreline Fall Scenic Bike Tour - On Saturday, 3rd weekend in September, over 650 participants celebrate a 25, 50, 75, or 100 mile bike tour along the shores of Lake Michigan . For more Information check out www.mackinawcity.com 

Hayrides and pumpkin picking - You can do this just a couple of miles from our resort.  Just A Plain Farm, is family-owned farm market that grows 40 acres of all types of pumpkins.  Take a Hayride and pick out your favorite pumpkin.

Falls Shoppers Festival in Mackinaw - This all happens on the third weekend of October.  Looking for a great deal on things you wanted all summer?  This is the best time for shopping for these items.  While you shop to find just the perfect thing, you can also appreciate the fabulous fall colors.  They are in full color this time of year.   Drive the country roads or sit out on our deck and enjoy all the variable colors that are displayed during this beautiful season in northern Michigan.

Hunting Season - We are in prime hunting country.  With acres of State land to hunt on you should be able to find the perfect spot. If you are into small game, waterfowl, white-tailed deer and more our resort is in the heart of it all. To find more information on where and what to hunt check out the DNR Hunting Website

Snowmobiling - This sport has grown over the last few years to be one of the most popular winter pastimes in the region. With hundreds of miles of trails, this, in large part, is due to the development and maintenance of well marked and groomed trails. Our resort is just a hop skip and jump to the trails.  You can also snowmobile right out in front of our resort on the lake when the ice is safe. The trails in this area are linked with the Mackinac Bridge Authority so you could hop a ride with them over the bridge and enjoy Upper Peninsula snowmobiling too.  

Down Hill Skiing & Snowboarding - There are several great locations for this sport.  Boyne Highlands & Nub's Nob are only a short drive from our resort. 

Cross Country Skiers - There are numerous trails in the area both groomed and un-groomed. With acres of State land, full of trails, there is a lot of popular destination for experienced skiers to go. It takes on a whole new look in white.   

Dog Sledding - This is becoming a fun sport to watch and to try.  Did you ever think you might want to try this?  Learn how to do this sport from beginning to end.  Trailsend Kennel will teach you how to do it all.  They are located only 6 miles from us.  Have a blast riding the trails with dogs pulling the way down snowy trails in the beautiful winter wonderlands. There are also several dog sled races you could just come and watch during our winter months.

The Mackinaw Mush Annual Sled Dog Race - The date that is slated for the first weekend in February in Mackinaw City. This year's purse is estimated at $3,000.  This year's 20th annual sled dog race, featuring 3, 4, & 6 dog teams and a celebrity race. For more information go to the Mackinaw Mush Website

Ice Fishing - You can enjoy this sport right out your front door. Paradise Lake has 1900 acres of lake to find the ideal place to fish.  So there is lots of room for everyone to choose their favorite spot.
